Hello Roosevelt Community,
I hope this message finds you well. At Roosevelt, our top priority is the safety, health and the well-being of our students, staff, and community. As we deal with the most challenging of times, we continue to make decisions based on the best interest of our Roosevelt students, staff, and families.
Per our last communication, we made the decision to remain in a virtual learning setting at least until Winter Break. We have continued to monitor Maricopa County health data and currently the data is showing that the COVID-19 positivity rate has unfortunately increased exponentially within our South Phoenix community. Those data sets can be located at this Maricopa County website:https://www.maricopa.gov/5594/School-Metrics.
As a result, our district team has made the difficult decision to delay the start of an in-person learning option until at least the beginning of 3rd trimester, which occurs in mid-February, data permitting. For now, we believe that it is the right decision for our school district to remain in an all-virtual learning setting. We understand the importance of in-person learning and are committed to offering an experience, once it is safe to do so. Additional details and information will be provided in January 2021.
We will continue to refine our virtual learning environment to provide a high-quality experience for all students and staff and will remain committed to providing the needed support for students and families to be successful this academic year. This means ongoing support with meals, broader on-site care support at all schools and technology/internet support. Please reach out to your school campus principal, teacher, counselor, social worker, or family engagement coordinator if your family is in need of any type of support.
We would like to encourage you and your family to remain vigilant during this winter/holiday season by wearing masks, maintaining social and physical distance from other people outside of your households and continuing to wash hands frequently. It’s more important now than ever, in order to stop the spread of the virus.
Please know that we are committed to working together to make the best decisions for all of our students, staff and families regarding a safe in-person return to school. As always, thank you for your support as we continue to make the best, most informed decisions for our district and community.
Be Bold. Be Well. Be Safe.
