We are excited to announce that the Governing Board selected Dr. Danelia Portillo to be the next Superintendent of the Roosevelt School District. Dr. Portillo has served as the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning for over three years, where her division helped elevate Roosevelt schools' letter grades to B’s and C’s from D’s and F’s through the implementation of new and viable curriculum in all areas.
Dr. Portillo will begin her superintendency on Monday, Feb. 6. In the meantime, Mrs. Shenell Alexander and Mrs. Megan Gestson will continue to serve as Co-Interim Superintendents. We look forward to continuing to thrive as a district under Dr. Portillo's leadership.
As we approach the winter months, we are seeing a rise of COVID, Flu and RSV cases in our community and schools. It can be very difficult to tell these illnesses apart due to the similarities in symptoms. We are urging you to keep your child home when they are sick and get them tested as soon as possible to rule out COVID. On the following pages are charts to help explain each one in detail and illustrate their differences.
Roosevelt School District is proud to honor and recognize board members Nancy Piña-Gray and Michelle Campuzano for their contributions to the district as their terms come to a close at the end of 2022. Michelle and Nancy have laid the foundation to make Roosevelt a destination people want to be a part of. They showed staff, parents and the community what a board member can do and set a standard for board members to come.
