Mr. Aaron Carman-Smith
Greetings Thunderbirds,
My name is Aaron E. Carman-Smith, and this will be my first year as the Dean of Students at T.G. Barr! I am looking forward to building relationships with students, staff, families, and the community. Everyday is a new day and I strive each day to build my capacity professionally and personally. I look forward to being a part of the T.G. Barr community where ALL Thunderbirds can SOAR!
I began my career in education 20 years ago as a paraprofessional at the Alhambra Elementary School District, and I spent the next 8 years working in the Roosevelt School District in several different capacities, from teaching, site-based coaching, and even coaching at the district office. I then spent the next 8 years as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Arizona State University, and supported the district through the iTeachAZ program. Visiting classrooms made me miss working in the classroom, which brought me to Valley View, where I returned to the classroom for three additional years.
On a personal note, I have been married to my wife for many years and we have two children. On the weekends you will find me with my family either exploring the outdoors, watching sports, spending time with my extended family, teaching online courses at Glendale Community College, or just relaxing. I also enjoy spending time at home when I have the chance!
These experiences have shaped me to whom I have become today as a leader and person, and I am proud to serve such an amazing community here at TG Barr. If there is anything I can do to support you, please do not hesitate to ask.
Respectfully,
Aaron E. Carman-Smith
