• Exceptional Student Services Curriculum Adoption

After reviewing several Tier 3 reading intervention programs approved by Arizona Department of Education, the ESS Reading Adoption Committee has chosen to pilot three programs, each for a period of 6-8 weeks. Throughout Spring and Fall 2022, the ESS Reading Adoption committee viewed presentations from several approved programs, and through a progress of rubric evaluation, questions and discussion based on effective principles of teaching reading to children with disabilities, three programs were chosen as pilot programs.

Print materials of these programs will be on display at the Student Services Building, available upon request from the Student Services Receptionist. The committee is open to feedback from the community, students, parents, and other stakeholders. Upon viewing materials, there is an opportunity to submit feedback on the programs.

    Reading pilot programs include:

    • mClass Intervention
    • Words Their Way
    • 95% Group for Phonics Intervention  - Lesson Libraries and Phonics Chip Kits

Additionally, the ESS Department has also chosen review materials to utilize in our special programs classrooms for students with more complex learning profiles. The programs are:

    • STAR Autism
    • Unique Learning
    • Handwriting Without Tears

Materials will be on display from Monday, Jan. 23 through Monday, April 3rd, 2023 at the Student Services Building.
