My name is Barbara Wolfe Colbert. I am very excited to be one of the Social-Emotional school social workers in the Roosevelt School District, assigned at Maxine O. Bush Elementary School this year! As a child I attended school in the Roosevelt School District and I feel very connected to the community. From a young age, I knew that I held a passion for connecting and being a resource for others. As a result of my dreams, I decided to attend Arizona Christian University for my Bachelor’s degree in Theology and Family Counseling then to Arizona State University where I graduated with my Master’s in Behavioral Health Social Work. 

As a Social Worker for Bush Elementary, I will be providing support to school students, staff, and families with special needs, in areas such as child development, community resources, and social/behavioral management for students who exhibit emotional, behavioral, or interpersonal difficulties. It is truly a pleasure to come to work each day and provide knowledge and support that I know can positively change a life. For several years now, the Roosevelt School District Social Workers has partnered with the “Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe,” program to assist in raising awareness against child abuse and bullying. Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe covers topics such as physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, bullying, and cyberbullying, all at an age-appropriate level. I obtained a certification to facilitate this program in the classroom and would like your permission for your child to participate in the program. I encourage you to take advantage of all this program has to offer. Not only serve as support to your students learning skills that will carry them to adulthood, but also learn to open your hearts and learn things for your own growth and development.
