Letter from the Roosevelt School District No. 66 Governing Board President – Jan. 22, 2019
Dear Roosevelt Community,
In South Phoenix, we have a strong understanding about the crucial role our public schools play in creating success for our students and the future of our community. The charters, other districts and private schools also understand how valuable our kids are too and they’re competing with public schools more than ever before. But I’m inspired by each employee who devotes an entire career, sometimes decades of service because they have faith in our kids.
We have 9,000 reasons to dream big, to make things better, to create a school district that helps our students accomplish their dreams. As board president, I believe it’s time to dream big, to make things better, to create a school district that helps our students accomplish their dreams. Over the coming days, weeks and months, I am asking you to join me in ensuring we create a strategic plan for our district that helps us provide the highest level of academic achievement opportunities for our students. Your participation in our strategic planning process will help ensure that every young student that walks through our school doors with a dream will benefit from your input and your involvement. You are critical partners to the success of this district. Each of you embody our cultures, our rich history and the lifeblood that form the heart of our South Phoenix community.
This past Friday, we held a tree planting ceremony at Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School to symbolically honor Dr. King’s Dream and to honor our longest serving employees. Roosevelt teachers and staff who have been with the district for more than 30 years were recognized and awarded with a certificate for their long-time service and dedication to the district. I’m asking you to watch and share this video https://vimeo.com/312775499 -- along with the hashtag #DreamBigRSD and tell us and the community what your dream is for our kids and our schools.
Right here, right now we have a choice about the vision for the future of our Roosevelt School District. Let’s dream big!
Stay tuned for more exciting announcements about how you can get involved to help Roosevelt as we dream big together.
