Learning Model Options for 2020-2021

    The Roosevelt School District No. 66 has developed three learning settings to meet the student and family needs of our entire community for the 2020-2021 school year. These options will include a full-time virtual academy, a full-time in-person option and a flexible combination of the two. 

    All learning setting options will include supports for identified English Language Learners, students with disabilities, and gifted students.  Professional development for staff will be provided prior to and throughout the school year to support teachers.

    Further information on each learning model is detailed below. 

Full-Year Online Learning Experience

  • The Full Year Online Learning Setting

    • Students will engage in 100% online learning for the entire 2020-2021 school year.
    • 5 days a week with a daily schedule and attendance taken.
    • Students will have a district-provided iPad and additional technology accessories, as needed.
    • All classes will be led by Roosevelt teachers using district-adopted curriculum and resources.
    • Differentiated instruction for gifted students
    • The virtual learning management system will support learning led by Roosevelt teachers.
    • Access to virtual "specials" throughout the semester.
    • Students with special needs will receive specially designed instruction, modifications, accommodations, and other related services as appropriate.
    • The Exceptional Student Services team will work with families to schedule required in-person therapies, including teletherapy when appropriate.
    • Specially-designed instruction to meet the needs of English Language Learners.
    • Social and emotional supports will be available to promote student and family well-being.
    • Students will be able to participate in extracurricular activities and athletics, following the in-person guidelines and safety measures when available.

Flexible Distance Learning Experience

  • The Flexible Online Learning Setting

    • Students will begin the year in a virtual learning setting, with the opportunity to transition in and out of in-person learning at designated times during the school year.
    • 5 days a week with a daily schedule and attendance taken.
    • Students will have a district-provided iPad and additional technology accessories, as needed.
    • All classes will be led by Roosevelt teachers using district-adopted curriculum and resources.
    • Differentiated instruction for gifted students.
    • The virtual learning management system will support learning led by Roosevelt teachers.
    • Access to virtual "specials" throughout the semester.

Full Time In-Person Learning Experience

  • The In-Person Learning Setting

    **In-Person learning will not begin until after fall break, Oct. 5-9, 2020** 

    • 5 days a week (Early release on Wednesdays) on campus
    • Preventive safety measures aligned with CDC guidelines will be taught and practiced daily
    • Students will have a district-provided iPad and additional technology accessories, needed.
    • All classes will be led by Roosevelt teachers using district-adopted curriculum and resources.
    • Daily special area classes
    • Differentiated instruction for gifted students.
    • Students with special needs will receive specially designed instruction, modifications, accommodations, and other related services.
    • Specially-designed instruction to meet the needs of English Language Learners.
    • Social and emotional supports will be available to promote student and family well-being.
    • Recess breaks for K-5 students
    • School campus, including classrooms and common spaces, cleaned and sanitized frequently.
