    Return to School District Updates

The Roosevelt School District No. 66 is committed to maintaining a transparent, open line of communication between the district and our community during these unprecedented times. As a district our priority is keeping our families safe and healthy. We have continued to look at the available data, CDC, state, county and local guidelines as it relates to our decisions around returning to school in person. Please see below for the latest updates from our superintendent. For more information about Roosevelt's policies, please download and review the 2021-2022 Return to School Safety Protocol Manual and watch the safety protocol videos.

  • An Update from the Superintendent's Office

    April 7, 2022

    Greetings Roosevelt Community,

We hope this message finds you well and safe as we approach the end of the 2021-2022 academic school year. Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have been committed to the health and safety of our students, staff, families and community. This commitment led to our multi-layered mitigation approach as recommended by the CDC and local health agencies. We have also worked closely with community partners to bring COVID testing and vaccination opportunities to our entire South Phoenix community.

Recently, federal and county officials have updated their masking recommendations. The new guidance states that when community spread is no longer high (or in the red), masks can be recommended and not required. Currently, our community spread is considered low, which means masks should be recommended, but not required. Additional information can be found on the CDC website regarding masking recommendations.

Throughout the pandemic, our district has followed the recommendations of health experts to inform our decisions and practice. With the updated CDC and county masking guidelines, beginning Monday April 11, Roosevelt will no longer require masks on campus, but will still recommend them as stated in the guidance. Quarantine and isolation protocols for COVID-19 positive cases will remain the same.

Masks will still be required on school buses in compliance with federal regulations.

Masks will still be accessible and welcomed on our campuses, and we ask our staff and students to support each person’s decision to wear or not wear a mask.

We will continue to monitor the spread of the virus in our community and adjust our mitigation protocols as data shifts. As always, continue to self-monitor at home, and if you feel sick, stay home and consult your physician.

Thank you all for your ongoing partnership as we work to keep our schools and our entire Roosevelt community safe. We are a community united to create better futures for all through education.

    Be Well and Be Bold,

    Quintin Boyce, Ed.D.
