Farewell to Dr. Boyce
We bid a final farewell to Dr. Boyce here at the District Office on Wednesday, October 19. Staff gathered to wish him well as he transitions to ASU. The event featured highlights from his time in RSD and was capped off with a drive through celebration from school staff in their cars and with the help of transportation our school buses even got in on the fun.

Values in Action Awards
At the October Principals Meeting, two more principals were recognized with the Values in Action awards. Dr. Kate Lyman was honored for demonstrating Excellence, and Mrs. Stephanie Acosta for exemplifying Trust.

Roosevelt Volleyball Champions Crowned
The Roosevelt School District crowned its 2022 Volleyball Champions. The Irene Lopez Boys and Valley View Girls earned first place, when they defeated Sunland and V.H. Lassen respectively.

On Saturday, Oct. 22 families and community members came to V.H. Lassen Elementary School and Spaces of Opportunity for the Food Day and Health Fest hosted by the City of Phoenix!

Jorgensen students beautify community
C.J. Jorgensen School has worked with the City of Phoenix and their Adopt-A-Street program to adopt 7th Ave between Southern and Broadway. Their student council works to keep this area clean and soon the City of Phoenix will install a C.J. Jorgensen School sign as a result of their participation in the program.

Lassen professional development takes staff outdoors
On Monday, Oct. 24, V.H. Lassen staff took part in a tree planting collaborative activity. With the help of UArizona and Arizona Worm Farm Lassen staff planted 2 trees together! A big thank you goes out to UArizona and Arizona Worm Farm for their donations and the lessons the staff engaged in!

Last week, students at Irene Lopez School participated in Red Ribbon Week. The Red Ribbon Campaign is the largest drug-abuse prevention campaign in the United States. Students at Lopez participated in an essay and picture contest

School Letter Grades
RSD is celebrating the release of our district school letter grade achievements for the academic school year 2021-2022 on AASA. Many of our schools improved in their letter grades from academic year 2018-2019, the last year school letter grades were released due to Covid.
