    RSD names new Maintenance Director

    We are proud to announce our supervisor of maintenance and facilities, Robert Lucas, has been promoted to Director of Maintenance. Mr. Lucas brings more than 30 years of experience to the table and looks forward to creating ways to grow the district, whether by remodeling older facilities or by building new schools to secure the future of the next generations of students.

He has had a wide range of previous experiences, including operating a nuclear power plant in the US Navy and analyzing business processes for Farmer Mac, which affords him a unique perspective in the education industry.

    The Human Resources Division recently had an opportunity to present at the ASPAA Personnel Academy. They shared RSD’s approach to progressive discipline, as well as best practices in documenting, HR protocols and collaborating with site leadership. They plan to continue representing Roosevelt in like fashion!

    Roosevelt welcomes new Community Relations Director

    We are excited to announce Magali Rivera, our Community Engagement and Marketing Specialist, has been promoted to Director of Community Relations. With over 25 years of experience working in the Television industry Ms. Rivera is versatile and adaptable, having traversed various roles and departments, gaining valuable insights and honing her skills along the way. Ms. Rivera is Rooted in south Phoenix; she was a student at C.J Jorgensen, T.G. Barr, South Mountain High School and South Mountain Community College. Her extensive experience and versatile skill set make her a valuable asset to Roosevelt.

    The annual Kids Day Festival | Día del Niño held at C.O. Greenfield Academy of Design and Innovation on Saturday, April 27, was a day of fun and excitement! Community members had the chance meet with community partners, play fun carnival games, enjoy food and live entertainment all while learning about our schools.

    Part of the fifth and sixth grades’ Service Learning Project at C.J. Jorgensen Academy of Service Learning was to bring awareness to stormwater pollution. The entries were submitted to the Maricopa County Stormwater Pollution Prevention contest, and sixth-grade student Ali won 2nd place!

    On Friday, April 26, John F. Kennedy Academy of Inquiry students had the valuable opportunity to engage in a conversation with Governing Board President Shelly Jackson where they discussed various important topics related to our district and school community. The student focus group provided a platform for our students to voice their opinions, share their experiences, and actively contribute to shaping the future of our school community.

    Valley View demonstrates RSD’s core value of excellence

    We are excited to announce Valley View Leadership Academy is the latest Arizona school to earn the Leader In Me Lighthouse status and accreditation. Valley View build student excellence in academics, culture and leadership by teaching “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” to all students. On Sunday, April 28 the seventh and eighth grade students of the Valley View Eagle Band performed a 30-minute set from memory at Knott’s Berry Farm.
