At the June Governing Board meeting, the Board received the year-end update on progress toward achieving Academic Goal #3 and interim goals 3.1 and 3.2

Seventh Grade AASA ELA Proficiency

Academic Goal #3

The percent of seventh-grade students who score at Proficiency or higher on AASA ELA will increase from 22% on Aug. 2023 to 45% by Aug. 2028.

Data is trending away from the goal and is off track.

Seventh-grade ELA made a significant improvement on AASA from 24.2% in 2024 to 27.6% in 2025. The Student Growth Percentile in 7th grade was also a relative strength at 54.71. Still, 7th-grade ELA was below last year’s goal of 30% and finished this year at 26.1%, 9 points off the 35% goal.

Interim Goal #3.1

The percentage of students performing at Proficiency or Higher on the fifth-grade STAR Reading Assessment will increase from 21.9% to 30% by May 2026.

This interim goal was not met.

At the start of the school year, fifth-grade students were performing at 25.3% proficiency on the assessment. At the time of the December benchmark testing, they were performing at 24.9% proficiency. They achieved only 23.6% proficiency on May's test and did not meet the 30% goal.

Interim Goal #3.2

The percentage of students performing at minimally proficient on the fifth-grade STAR Reading Assessment will decrease from 59.5% to 45% by May 2026.

This interim goal was not met.

At the start of the school year, fifth-grade students were performing at 59.9% minimal proficiency on the assessment. At the time of the January benchmark testing, they showed improvement to 58.7% minimal proficiency. While encouraging, 59.4% performed at a minimally proficient level on May's assessment and did not meet the 45% goal.
