Student Meal Updates

We understand that recent cuts to SNAP funding and the temporary lapse in benefits may cause concern for many of our Roosevelt families. Please rest assured that all Roosevelt students will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch every school day, regardless of any changes to SNAP.

Dear Bernard Black Community,

In the spirit of transparency and continued commitment to maintaining a high-quality learning experience for all of our students, I want to share an important update regarding our primary grade levels.

After careful review of our current enrollment and staffing projections, we have made the strategic decision to consolidate our three Kindergarten classes into two. This adjustment ensures balanced class sizes, consistent instructional delivery, and the most effective use of our teaching resources. Our Kindergarten team has worked collaboratively to support a smooth transition for all students, and every effort is being made to maintain established relationships and continuity of care.

At the same time, I am pleased to announce that Ms. Adela Valdez will be filling our 2nd Grade teaching position. This BBEA veteran brings valuable classroom experience, a deep passion for student growth, and a commitment to our school’s entrepreneurial and innovative spirit. We are confident that she will be an excellent addition to our team and will further strengthen our academic program.

Change can sometimes bring questions, but please know that every decision is made with the goal of providing the best possible educational experience for our students. Our teachers and staff remain dedicated to ensuring that your child continues to thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally—here at BBEA.

Thank you for your understanding, trust, and continued partnership as we grow together in this exciting school year.

With appreciation,
Dr. Michael Crudder
