Girls on the Run participants pose for a photo

The Student Wellness Department sponsors the Girls on the Run program, a nonprofit after-school initiative that combines physical activity with life skills lessons to empower girls in third through eighth grade. The program has positively impacted participants, including improved self-confidence, increased physical activity, a stronger sense of purpose and goal-setting, and academic and behavioral improvements.

Girls on the Run served 70 students across five schools, including two new sites. In a heartwarming finale, staff from all over the district joined the girls as running buddies for their final run, creating a sense of community and support.
