Reinventing Roosevelt Board Update | Sept. 2, 2025

During the September Governing Board Meeting, several project updates were delivered to the board relating to the Reinventing Roosevelt efforts.

Greenfield, Julian and Kennedy schools all had playground projects approved and will be funded by the latest series of Bond sales.

The playground at Greenfield will feature an ultra-modern design, several ADA collaboration zones and an exercise station. The project is set to begin during Winter Break.

Julian school will start construction on their new playground for preschool, kindergarten and first-grade students in October. It will boast an ADA apparatus and collaboration zone, equipment for music play, a trike path and an open turf play area.

The Kennedy playground expansion will showcase a hybrid modern-traditional design, complete with an ADA apparatus and collaboration space, music, and sensory play equipment. The project will begin in October.

Work is also set to begin on the Maxine O. Bush site to modernize the campus and meet the needs of the South Phoenix community when it reopens.

It was also announced that the district will work closely with Victor Vidales to gather community input and carefully examine our options for the John R. Davis, C.J. Jorgensen, and V.H. Lassen sites for phase two of Reinventing Roosevelt: repruposing.
