During the February Governing Board Meeting, the board heard updates about three upcoming construction projects.
Conchos Secure Access Upgrade

During the review of all projects this past summer, Conchos, as a receiving school, was a high priority. Currently, this school's main office is located inside the secure school. This allows for access to the secure spaces before checking in for an authorized visit. Due to this security marginality, the Construction Project Manager will be developing a Single Point Entry Security upgrade for review by Procurement and ultimately for approval. This upgrade has been completed at multiple Roosevelt schools, including Southwest and Davis. During this upgrade, our procured contractor will essentially swap the current Library and Front Office, which will call for a full remodel of both spaces. The New Front Office will be able to buzz in guests from the outer walk-up into the secure spaces inside the gates of Conchos. The New Library space will be the perfect location for a brand-new Makers space and Media center, equipped and ready to nurture the innovative and creative minds of Concho students.
Playgrounds
Southwest
Pastor

The Southwest and Ed and Verma Pastor playgrounds will feature a hybrid traditional-modern design. Both sites will begin the design process later this month, with March being the targeted design-approval timeframe. Construction will be completed over a four-week span during the summer.
