• Practice tests are available online to help students feel prepared

💡 How families can help:

P.L. Julian Weekly Social Skill Focus

This week, our school is focusing on the social skill of Using Self-Control Strategies. Each week, students learn and practice a new skill that helps them manage emotions, make good choices, and stay ready to learn.

Families can support by practicing these strategies at home and reminding children that it’s okay to take a moment to calm down when they’re feeling upset or overwhelmed.

The 5 steps to Using Self-Control Strategies are:
1. Pay attention to your body’s reaction 👀
2. Breathe slowly and deeply 🌬️
3. Relax any tense muscles 💪➡️😌
4. Ask for a few minutes alone to calm down (if needed) ⏳
5. If calming down is difficult, ask a trusted person for help 🤝

Thank you for partnering with us to help students build strong self-control and coping skills at school, at home, and in the community!

Good morning P.L. Julian families! 👋

Just a reminder that we do not have school today as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King dedicated his life to fighting for justice, equality, and civil rights, and we take this day to reflect on his legacy and the importance of treating others with kindness & respect and showing up for those in need with courage.

Also, tomorrow, Tuesday 1/20, is our 100th Day of School! 🎉📚 Please make sure your child comes to school so they can celebrate with their class.

Attendance on the 100th Day is especially important because this is the day our school funding amounts are calculated based on student attendance. This funding helps support our school programs, staff, and resources for students. Sending your children to school matters!

Thank you for making attendance a priority and for supporting our school! 🦅
