Get ready for a week full of school pride, fun, and creativity! Starting today 12/15, Spirit Week is happening at P.L. Julian, and we can’t wait to see our students show off their Eagle spirit each day. See the themes pictured.
Participation is optional and students can come in uniform if you'd prefer. It’s ALWAYS a great day to be an Eagle! 🦅✨
-Wednesday 12/17 will be a full school day, with dismissal at 3:30 PM.
-Friday 12/19 will be our early release day, with dismissal at 1:30 PM.
Additionally, please note that we will be out on Winter Break from Monday, 12/22 through Monday, 1/5. School will resume on Tuesday, 1/6 at 8:00 AM.

Join us for our free mobile food distribution, in collaboration with St. Mary's Food Bank, on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 8 a.m. Food items will be distributed in the parking lot of Bernard Black Entrepreneurial Academy.

We are thrilled to share that our west-side playground is getting a complete rebuild, a HUGE upgrade that will bring our students an incredible new space to play, explore, and stay active! This renovation is part of our ongoing commitment to creating a beautiful, engaging, and safe learning environment for all Eagles.
🚧 Construction begins Thursday, 12/11, and the goal is to have the brand-new playground ready for students when we return in January. We cannot wait for our kids to experience this amazing new addition to our campus!
🌅 Morning Drop-Off Update
Because of construction in that area, all students will need to be dropped off at the front of the school in the mornings until winter break. Our staff will be ready to greet and guide students each day to make sure everything runs smoothly.
🚗 Afternoon Dismissal
Great news—dismissal procedures will stay exactly the same. No changes needed!
This new playground is a tremendous investment in our students’ joy, health, and daily school experience. We are so excited for our Eagles to have a beautiful new place to climb, play, and create childhood memories. Thank you for your support as we make our campus even better!

This week, our school is focusing on the social skill of Listening to Others. Each week, students practice a new skill that helps them build respect, empathy, and strong communication with others.
Families can support by modeling good listening at home—taking turns in conversations and showing interest when others speak.
The 3 steps to Listening to Others are:
1. Look at the person talking and remain quiet 👀🤫
2. Wait until the person is finished talking before you speak ⏱️
3. Show that you heard the person by nodding your head or saying “Okay.” 👍

📚 District Benchmark Testing Window: December 2–10 📚
P.L. Julian Families, this week begins our District Benchmark Testing Window from 12/2–12/10. These assessments are very important because they help us understand how much your child has grown, what they have mastered, and how we can adjust instruction to make sure every student gets the support they need. -Arrive to school on time and avoid absences during the testing window.

Families can support by encouraging children to use these same steps at home when they need help with homework, chores, or solving a problem.

❄️ 🎶 Save the Date! Winter Showcase – Thursday, December 11th 🎶❄️
Julian Eagles families, you are warmly invited to our Winter Wonderland Showcase on Thursday, December 11th beginning at 5:00pm with the music performance kicking off at 5:45pm! Our Culture Cabinet, our music teacher Mr. Leon, and our 21st Century team are creating a magical, winter-themed evening full of musical & dance performances, creativity, and community celebration.
✨ What to Expect:
Music Performances: Students will perform a special winter song selected by Mr. Leon. Students are practicing in music class and in their classrooms—get ready for some festive melodies!
21st Century Club Showcases: Some clubs will perform, while others will host activity booths or display special projects exhibiting student work!
Food & T-Shirt Sales: Enjoy delicious food for purchase and grab Julian Eagles spirit shirts—perfect for gifting!
Afterschool Options Information: Learn more about the daycare and afterschool programs at MLK Early Childhood Resource Center, 21st Century afterschool programs at Julian, and other enrichment opportunities available to students.

📣 Eagles Elevate Fun Run is Coming Up! 🦅

P.L. Julian School is excited to partner with Aravaipa Running for our Eagles Elevate Fun Run! This is our 5th year in a row collaborating with this wonderful community organization. We can’t wait to see our students out on the field, moving their bodies, and having fun together.
🏃♂️🏃♀️ What to Expect
Students will test their cardiovascular endurance and see how many laps they can complete in 20 minutes. They can run, jog, or walk—everyone can participate by just keeping their bodies moving! Our top students will win a turkey to take home!
👟 What Students Should Wear/Bring
-Comfortable clothes and shoes for running
-Plenty of water and good hydration throughout the week
We’re looking forward to an energetic, joyful event filled with school spirit. Thank you for supporting our Eagles as they elevate their fitness and have fun!
Menu: Sliced turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and all the fixings.
Cost: $4.75 per adult and non-enrolled student meal (Please bring exact change if possible)
