Sunland STEAM Academy

Thank you parents and families for attending last night's cafecito. We discussed the concerns parents have about cooling issues, school safety, behavior, interactions in the classroom, and office, traffic, bus safety, lunches and recess, social media safety, and we included a discussion about the positive behavior supports being implemented school-wide. The following items will be addressed and progress will discussed at the next cafecito: notifications about cooling being addressed in specific locations will increase, notifications to maintenance will continue to occur daily until all cooling issues are resolved, air quality report will be communicated as soon as possible, timeliness of callbacks from administrators to parents will improve; staff, teacher, student, and parent interactions will improve, traffic safety has improved and more signage will be provided, all students will receive and be provided adequate time to eat, students will have access to bathrooms and water stations during recess, additional safety precautions will be taken for buses and playgrounds, more students will be held accountable for their actions in the classroom, school and social media, positive behavior supports for students behavior will increase. Parent teacher association (PTA) will be meeting and parent volunteers will be helping around campus more often. We have a lot of work to do and your support is needed and always appreciated. Thank you!

Rainy day schedule being implemented for lunches and recess. Students will remain in classrooms or common areas for recess. Once the rain has led up in. It is safe to be outside. We will go back to normal schedule.

Parents today is Kona Ice day. Please DO NOT drop off money in the front office.

Sunland families, Today is not a $1 dress down day. All students are expected to wear their school uniforms. The next dress down day is next Friday, October 3. We also have Scorpion Scholar that day. Thank you!
