Over the next month, our 3rd–8th graders will complete the Arizona State Standardized tests. Below is the testing window for each exam. Your child's school will communicate specific dates. 🔭 Science: March 24-27 (5th and 8th grade only) ✍️ Writing: April 3 and 4 📖 Reading: April 7-11 📐 Math: April 14-17 🗣️ Oral Reading Fluency: April 1-4 (3rd grade only) Please help us set them up for success by ensuring they are well-rested and at school on time on testing days. Just FYI Wednesday and Friday this week the city of phoenix is going to be working on 7th Ave right in front of the school dropping either the south bound and north bound lanes down to 1 lane. Dear Sunland STEAM Academy Families, It is with a heavy heart that I share the heartbreaking news that our beloved social studies teacher, Ms. Cynthia Araiza, has passed away unexpectedly. Ms. Araiza was not only a dedicated educator but also a proud former Sunland student herself. She returned to our school to give back to the community that shaped her, inspiring generations of students with her kindness, passion for teaching, and unwavering support. We are sharing this news with you over the weekend so that you have the opportunity to speak with your child in a way that best supports their emotions and understanding. We know that processing this kind of loss can be difficult, and we encourage you to have open conversations with your child about their feelings. To support our students and staff, we will have a full team of social workers and counselors on campus beginning Monday and throughout the week. Additionally, personnel from the district office will be present on campus to provide extra support during this difficult time. If you feel your child may need additional support, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
